The territory of Baunei is in the central-eastern part of Sardinia,
in the Province of Ogliastra, near
Codula Elune, an unspoiled area that leads to the bay by the same name better known to tourists as Cala Luna.

Although Baunei is increasingly opening up to tourism, and hence to the promotion of its coastline, the mountainous profile of the main village, which bears the signs of centuries of shepherds and herdsmen’s lives, still stands out strong. In the characteristic old part of the town stands the parish church of San Nicola of Bari, dating back to the XVI century, partially rebuilt during the XX century.
The church has a domed roof and a decorated portal, separated from the main part of the building by a fake façade.
